A Time to Say Thanks - Volunteers Week 2023

2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) when thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognise the contribution volunteers make across the UK. This page will feature uplifting news and stories to bring a smile to you face - celebrating and inspiring volunteering in our city of Bristol.

Spotlight on...

Voscur will be publishing a series of spotlight articles throughout Volunteers Week and the Month of Community (June) shining a light on the brilliant work of volunteers in Bristol.

These will be published on the news section of their website, and shared on social media with a selection of the articles featured below.

In the run up to Volunteers Week, Voscur take a moment to focus on thanking volunteer coordinators.

On Day 5 of Volunteers Week, Voscur reflect on the experiences of Black, Brown and Minoritized Volunteers and talk to Caafi Health.

Voscur also acknowledge - While we celebrate those people who volunteer this VolunteersWeek, we must not forget the people who want to, but can’t.

Towards the end of Volunteers Week, Voscur offer a platform for Francesca - Civic and Community Engagement Lead at UWE Bristol - to write a guest blog, describing the mutual benefits of student volunteering.

Shine a light on a helpful citizen, volunteer or group!

The Wall of Thanks provides a place to recognise those who have freely given their time and skills to help Bristol residents. Whether as a regular volunteer, a helpful neighbour checking in or a community organisation - actions, both large and small, make a significant difference to many people’s lives. Let’s celebrate this!
